On behalf of Institute of Adult Education (IAE) and Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Public Service Recruitment Secretariat (PSRS) invites dynamic and suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill 2 vacant posts.

1.0 THE INSTITUTE OF ADULT EDUCATION ( IAE )

The Institute of Adult Education (IAE) was established in 1960 as an extra mural studies section of Makerere University College, under the University of London. In 1963, the Institute was upgraded to a department and placed under the Dar es Salaam University College. Later on it became an autonomous institution established by Parliamentary Act No. 12 of 1975 under the then Ministry of National Education, currently the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST).

1.1.1 DEPUTY DIRECTOR (ACADEMIC, RESEARCH AND CONSULTANCY)

 1.1.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Deputy Director (Academic, Research and Consultancy) shall:

i. Be responsible to the Director in respect of such matters of technical education; administration and delivery;

ii. Facilitate learning (by teaching) of academic programmes in the Institution;

iii. Be responsible for smooth running and development of academic matters in the
institute;

iv. Advise on all matters pertaining to academics management, quality control and assurance;

v. Evaluate current progress of academic affairs in the Institute and recommend future programmes;

vi. Recommend appropriate budgets for the academic departments;

vii. Oversee research and consultancy activities at the Institute;

viii. Coordinate the development and establishment of academic programmes and management of academic resources;

ix. Oversee admission and examinations regulations; and

x. Perform any other duties assigned by the Director.

1.1.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• PhD either in Education, Adult and Continuing Education, Adult Education and Community Development, Mass Communication, Journalism, Community Development, Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resource, Accountancy, Distance Education, Project Management, Educational Planning and Administration, Education Administration, Planning and Policy Studies, Geography and Environmental Management, Counseling & Psychology, Economics and Finance for Development or equivalent qualification from an accredited higher learning institution and must be at least Senior Lecturer.

• He/ she must have at least ten (10) years experience in which five years (5) at a senior level.

• Person with outstanding academic and administrative experience and capability in the area of adult education or technical education and training.

1.1.4 REMUNERATION

Attractive remuneration package in accordance with the Institute Scheme of Service.

2.0 THE TANZANIA REVENUE AUTHORITY (TRA)

The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) was established by Act of Parliament No. 11 of
1995, and started its operations on 1st July 1996. In carrying out its statutory functions, TRA is regulated by law, and is responsible for administering impartially various taxes of the Central Government.

2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To teach up to NTA level 8 (Degree);

ii. To prepare learning resources for lectures and tutorial exercises;

iii. To conduct tutorials and seminars for students;

iv. To participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of training programmes;

v. To design and carry out research assignments;

vi. To conduct consultancy and provide community services;

vii. To supervise field work and projects of students;

viii. To participate in carrying out Training Needs Assessment; and

ix. To perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

3.1.2 QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Master’s Degree in Taxation with Grade B from a recognized Institution/University and Bachelor of Taxation with GPA of at least 3.8 and working experience of at least four (4) years in related field.

3.1.3 REMUNERATION

Attractive remuneration package in accordance with the institutions salary scale.

 xi. Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA) and National Council for Technical Education (NACTE); 
xii. Certificates from Foreign Universities should be verified by The Tanzania
Commission for Universities (TCU); xiii. An applicant with special needs/case (disability) is supposed/advised to indicate;
