On behalf of The Dar Es Salaam Development Corporation ( DDC ) President’s Office, Public Service Recruitment Secretariat invites competent, experienced, highly organized and self- motivated Tanzanians to fill 9 vacant posts mentioned below;

1.0 INTRODUCTION - DAR ES SALAAM DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

The Dar es Salaam Development Corporation ( DDC ) is the Government Organization established in 18th May 1971 under the company Act number 212 of 1971. In 1973 the organization kept under new Act of Parliament No. 16 of 1973 (District Development Corporation Act No.16). The Corporation was established with the aim of promoting Economic Development of Dar es Salaam City Council ( DCC ) by performing production activities, business and promoting entertainment to the majority in Dar es Salaam.

1.1 CIVIL ENGINEER – 1 POST

1.1.1 Duties and Responsibilities

i. Assist in undertaking Company’s civil/building engineering works such as structural designs, calculations and drawing detailing, site supervision of building, and any other civil/building works;

ii. Develop, maintain and co-ordinate construction and maintenance plans for civil/building works undertaken by the company;

iii. Prepare technical standards and specifications for the design of civil and building works undertaken by the company to ensure the highest standards are maintained in executed works, taking particular note of the company’s engineering instructions;

iv. Supervise and monitor civil and building projects assigned, including the preparation of regular project performance/accomplishment reports;

v. Enhance safety matters in the section to ensure safety to employees, customers and equipment at work sites; and

vi. Review/scanning by checking at structural and architectural  drawings if they tally with quantities ( BOQ ) and other managerial responsibilities; etc.

1.1.2 Qualifications and Experience

i. Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural and/or buildings) from recognized institution. ii. Must be registered by Professional Board ( ERB ) with at least 3 years’ experience after registration

iii. Must have an experience of not less than 5 years in the similar works iv. Must have an experience of supervising construction of multi-story buildings v. Must be below 45 years of age.

1.1.3 Salary Scale

1.2 ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I – 1 POST

1.2.1 Duties and Responsibilities

i. Work from ladders, scaffold, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical
Wiring, equipment, and fixtures; ii. Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes;

iii. Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications;

iv. Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets;

v. Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects;

vi. Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services; vii. Provide assistance during emergencies by operating floodlights and generators, placing flares;

viii. Preparing and supervising the implementation of preventive maintenance schedule for the section and advise accordingly; ix. Keeping and updating technical reports, drawings and other documents;

x. Conducting daily inspection of all buildings; 

xi. Performs other work related duties as assigned;

xii. Must be able to work flexible hours;

xiii. To prepare periodic reports on the status of electrical systems management in the Corporation; and

xiv. Perform other tasks as assigned.

1.2.2 Qualifications and Experience

Must be a holder of either Diploma Certificate program, Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or equivalent qualifications in the relevant field from a recognized institution; 

Working experience of at least three years in relevant field from a reputable organization will be an added advantage.

1.2.3 Other Skills and Competencies

Having a high level of mental and physical aptitude; Taking specialized courses in residential and commercial wiring practices and having a strong working knowledge of national electrical codes and safety measures and Basic computer skills.

1.2.4 SALARY SCALE

According to DDC’ Salary Scale

1.2.5 AGE LIMIT: Must be below 45 years of age

1.3 DRIVER III - 3 POSTS

1.3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Driving motor vehicles and machines as may be assigned;

ii. Ensuring motor vehicle and machines and their accessories are in good condition;

iii. Following motor vehicles and machines under repairs and ensure that required spares are fitted and that obsolete spares are returned to store for verification;

iv. Maintaining vehicles and/or machines cleanliness;
 v. Ensure safety of the vehicle and machines;
 vi. Maintaining and recording log books for all trips or routes made;
 vii. Undertaking routine checks on the vehicles to ensure that is serviceable; 
viii. Reporting any defect or problems detected in the vehicles or machines;
 ix. Monitoring mileage and sending motor vehicles for normal service when due;

x. Servicing, monitoring and certifying maintenance carried out on the vehicle is adequate standard;

xi. Monitoring and taking safe custody of vehicles all the time; xii. Monitoring fuel consumption of vehicle and advice; and xiii. Performing any other duties related to the above as assigned by your supervisor.

1.3.2 Qualification and Experience

Possession of a Secondary School Education Certificates ( CSEE ) or holder of Form IV certificate with clean and valid driving license D, C or E and attended professional driving course of the accredited institutions such as NIT and VETA and attained Trade Test Grade II (Mechanics), or advanced Drivers course for VIP (Grade I or II). Capable of driving all types of motor vehicles and machine. Must have at least 4 years driving experience with a clean driving record without causing any road accident. Must be fluent in both spoken and written Kiswahili and English Language.

1.3.3 Salary Scale: According to DDC’ Salary Scale

1.3.4 Age Limit: Must be below 45 years of age

1.4 OFFICE ASSISTANT II - 2 POSTS

1.4.1 Duties and Responsibilities

i. Upkeep and cleans offices, windows and desks;

ii. Cleans office surroundings;

iii. Gardens and generally keeps the Corporation’s premises in clean and attractive state;

iv. Assists in organizing for pre-meeting arrangements;

v. Distributes mail internally to respective staff;

vi. Duplicates documents, such as circulars and other publications;

vii. Circulates files and documents internally to respective staff;

viii. Prepares and serves refreshments during in house meetings and workshops; and

ix. Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate Supervisor.

1.4.2 Qualification and Experience

Form IV secondary certificate with passes in at least two subjects including Kiswahili. 

Certificate in Office Practice/Management will be added advantage

1.4.3 Salary Scale: According to DDC’ Salary Scale

1.4.4 Age Limit: Not above 30 years of age

1.5 SECURITY OFFICER II - 2 POSTS

1.5.1 Duties and Experience

i. Guards the premises and properties of DDC assigned;

ii. Watch for and report irregularities or hazards;

iii. Apprehends anyone who threatens loss, damage, safety, or security to DDC properties and immediately informs the management and/or Police,

iv. Control vehicles in and out;

v. Patrol the premises assigned to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates;

vi. Answer alarms and investigate disturbances;

vii. Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises;

viii. Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences;

ix. Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons;

x. Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property;

xi. Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary;

xii. Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of
prohibited articles into restricted areas;

xiii. Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering and

xiv. Perform any other duty assigned by office supervisor.

1.5.2 Qualification and Experience

Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education (CSE) or ACSE. Must have attended National Service - One year and above. Must speak fluent Kiswahili and English

1.5.3 Salary Scale: According to DDC’ Salary Scale

GENERAL CONDITIONS
